This course is an interactive and hands-on introduction to electronic music. Students will look at different approaches to creation through listening and composition exercises. The course will culminate in an original creative work by each student. Students can expect weekly exercises, which will serve as the foundation of their final composition. Students will learn about audio editing, basic recording techniques, audio processing and automation through the exploration of integrating acoustic sounds and instruments in electronic environments.
Originally designed as an 8-week course, the class in its entirety includes exposure and analysis of Text-Sound works and an introduction to Acoustic-Ecology.
The class is currently in 3 formats;
1) 12-week course – MIDI Sequencing, DAW, Electronic Music Analysis, Text-Sound, Acoustic Ecology, 1 Sound-Walk, 1 Project, 1 Performance
2) 8-week course – MIDI Sequencing, DAW, Electronic Music Analysis, Text-Sound, 1 Sound Walk, 1 Project
3) 3 -week course – Analysis and discussion of Text-Sound music only
